President Jim Gash announced Biology Professor Jay Brewster as his selection for the next provost on April 19. Brewster, a scientist, Church of Christ member and Pepperdine dad, shares his hopes and ambitions in his new role.
Pepperdine announced its newest provost, Biology Professor Jay Brewster. Brewster has worked at Pepperdine for 24 years and will assume his role as provost Aug. 1.
Provost Rick Marrs will be finishing his time as provost on July 31, 2021, and Pepperdine administrators look to fill the hole he leaves behind. Six candidates announced as finalists interacted with faculty in town halls hosted via Zoom on March 24-31.
Provost Rick Marrs sent an email to the Pepperdine community Oct. 26 addressing the School of Public Policy email marketing campaign sent Oct. 12. Marrs expressed concern for community members of color who were hurt by the campaign and Pepperdine’s affiliation with partisan ties.
Provost Rick Marrs will step down from his position at the close of the 2020–2021 school year to return to teaching at Seaver college.
