Pepperdine’s International Programs celebrated the Return on Sept. 8. Students had the chance to reconnect with friends from their abroad programs and new students learned about new opportunities.

Students said they are experiencing all sorts of things and emotions being abroad. Most importantly, they can finally travel outside of their designated countries and having a great time learning about new places and experiencing new things.
Pepperdine International Programs office announced July 9 the Heidelberg, London, Lausanne and Washington, D.C., programs will all run on time for fall 2021 with in-person classes. IP staff and students adjust to this fall’s pandemic challenges by preparing for their host locations’ COVID-19 guidelines.
The International Programs staff are working with students to maintain excitement about study abroad. Students enrolled in international programs are adjusting to the cancellations and preparing for the upcoming years.
Lausanne Program Director Ezra Plank shared his experiences living in Lausanne over the last seven months, from watching the students leave in March to prepping for the next program participants and bracing for a possible second lockdown in Switzerland.
The Pepperdine Lausanne program will move from the Maison du Lac to Chateau d’Hauteville outside of Vevey. The castle is undergoing extensive renovations and will not be ready until 2023, administrators said.
Students received two emails July 9 and July 22 from Dean Michael Feltner providing an update on International Programs, and all international programs were suspended. IP students discussed how the suspension has impacted them.
