“Dance in Flight” presented their annual performance in Smothers Theatre, Feb. 10 through 12. The show highlighted the reality of how life was during the pandemic.
Pepperdine reorganized the Department of Student Affairs over summer 2021. Administrators said the changes were made with operations, budget and strategic priorities in mind, but affected personnel share confusion and hurt following the changes.
Pepperdine’s oldest tradition, Songfest, hangs in jeopardy for spring 2022. Following Songfest Director Sam Parmelee’s layoff, community members lack key information to move forward with the show.
Waves Weekend took place from Oct. 8-10, bringing in over 1,100 parents and alumni to campus. The University filled the weekend with carnival rides, free food, campus tours, pep rallies and more.
Songfest will continue this year as a virtual performance, with fewer weekly rehearsals spread out over eight weeks instead of two. Despite significant changes resulting from the virtual format, organizers and student leaders are hopeful they will develop a sense of community similar to the one found in person.
