Think you know all there is to Pilates? Think again! Pilates Plus is a unique workout that incorporates strength training and Pilates to achieve maximum muscle definition.

Located right off of the Pacific Coast Highway, Pilates Plus is a great workout option for Pepperdine students.

Pilates Plus owner Kristi Vacanti said the secret to Pilates Plus lies in its efficiency.

“You’re going to get way more out of a Pilates Plus class than just going to the gym on your own,” Vacanti said.

“You’re in and out in anywhere from 40 to 60 minutes and you’re working every single part of your body.”

Pilates Plus workouts are based on intensity, not length. According to Pilatespluslosangeles.com, the body responds more to intensity than it does to duration and will burn calories more effectively this way.

Workout classes are based on the Lagree Method, which uses a Pilates’ reformer machine to integrate cardio, strength and flexibility into a full body workout.

Thanks to the Lagree Method, you can expect to burn calories long after you leave the class. A typical class burns up to 700 calories.

“It’s a circuit training workout,” Vacanti said. “You’ll stay on one body part for a while, until you burn that body part out.”

The celebrity-endorsed workout is a favorite among the Kardashians, Sofia Vergara and Brooke Burke-Charvet.

Classes are free your first week. For Pepperdine students, a one-month membership is $199 for unlimited classes. Other student options include a $150 per month package for all classes after 4:00 p.m., or $175 a month for all classes after 11:00 a.m.

For non-students, a one-month membership is $149 for the first month and $259 the following month. Individual classes are $35 each. For more information on package pricing and class schedules visit pilatespluslosangeles.com.
