They say that the pain you feel today is the strength you will feel tomorrow. However, if your pain is comes from not being able to find space or equipment in the small weight center in the Pepperdine gym, you are probably feeling a different kind of burn.

So you have complained, and Campus Recreation hears you. Campus Recreation has partnered with funders of SGA and Athletics to bring forward The Cage, a brand new, dynamic outdoor training facility located in the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Incorporating CrossFit style workouts in the form of “caveman training,” the Cave responds to complaints of students by providing four brand new squat racks. In addition to rope climbing facilities and a boxing bag, the Cage in total, is adding 1,000 square feet of fitness facilities to Seaver College.

The cost efficient solution to the small weight center allows more popular weight-lighting to be performed, according to Campus Recreation representative Michael Mori. Run by campus recreation student workers, the Cage operates on Mondays between 5 – 9 p.m., Tuesdays through Thursdays 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Fridays on 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.  “There is even a fitness class specifically after Wednesday Convocations,” said SGA Vice President of Administration Ima Idahosa.

Idahosa reports that the Cage will be open the first week of class. They will also be having an Olympic lifting seminar on Sept. 9.

Officially no excuses, people.
