November 17, 2011 by Nathan Stringer

SCORPIO — Stop climbing the ladder and take the stairs. SAGITTARIUS — Don’t turn left this week. CAPRICORN — Scorpio’s job is up for grabs. Also, the elevator’s empty. ‘Immortals’ bleeds action, lacks story

November 17, 2011 by Alex Wilson

Like a series of fantastic Renaissance-style paintings depicting ancient Greek myths, “Immortals” comes to life in 3-D, reminiscent of “300,” but certainly no knock-off like “Clash of the Titans.” Directed by Tarsem Singh (“The Cell,” “The Fall”), the film feels like much of his other works, filled with beautiful and complex images and special effects, and a not-so-special … [Read more...] about ‘Immortals’ bleeds action, lacks story

Music Review: ‘Love: Part Two’

November 17, 2011 by Nikki Torriente

While many, many, many people would consider a life of copy editing to be one of infinitely thrilling twists and turns, the rest of my life doesn’t quite live up to this expectation of excitement. The edgiest thing I did this week was … [Read more...] about The Bucket List: Put the list to rest to reap friendship’s best

Student artist’s abstract style finds muse in nature

November 17, 2011 by Lauren Johnson

If you’ve ever been anywhere near Pepperdine University’s Cultural Arts Center, chances are you’ve run into Pepperdine student and local California artist Brighton Demerest-Smith. Demerest-Smith lives and breathes his art, spending the majority of his time here at Pepperdine holed up in one of the upstairs studios, churning out piece by piece like a machine — but without the … [Read more...] about Student artist’s abstract style finds muse in nature
