Let it be up to the individual to disclose which labels, or lack thereof, they choose to resonate and identify with. Forcing one’s own understanding onto another individual because of predisposed expectations or standards of how that person fits a mold or label is wrong.

The monumental act of “coming out” to one’s friends and family is not necessary to all members of the LGBTQ+ community in a contemporary context like it once was. With sexual orientation constantly increasing in its fluidity, coming out may not serve the same significance for everyone.

With anti-LGBTQ+ companies like Chick-fil-A given freely to the Pepperdine community, statements of inclusivity seem to lose their value as a result.
