Greek organizations have continued to grow their negative reputation among universities nation wide. As Pepperdine is home to eight sororities and five fraternities, Greek leaders touch on how they are working to break the stigma around joining Greek organizations.

Pepperdine Chaplain’s Office hosted a prayer vigil March 9 for the community to mourn, celebrate and honor the life of junior Autumn Tennison. Tennison died March 7.
In the first in-person fraternity and sorority recruitment since spring 2020, students participated in events and activities which lead them to the sorority or fraternity fit for them. Every student had unique experiences and expectations of recruitment, and many ran into both emotional obstacles and pleasant surprises along the way.
Greek life organizations at Pepperdine maintain a steady level of affiliation even as COVID-19 and the resulting online format alters the Recruitment process and membership experience. COVID-19 led to reduced dues across chapters and halted plans for a new fraternity on campus.
