Seniors Jenna Fodor and Megan Woods both scored as Pepperdine’s women’s soccer opened the season with a victory Friday over No.-28 University of Central Florida at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.

Woods’ goal came in the 19th minute on an assist by junior Courtney Nelson. Pepperdine’s second goal came a short time later when Fodor took a rebound off another Woods shot and put it in the net in the 22nd minute.

The Waves played solid defense in the first half, only allowing one UCF shot. The Golden Knights’ only goal came in the 65th minute and was scored by Roberta Pelarigo.

The Waves had nine shots and three shots on goal while UCF had eight shots, five of which were on goal.

Fodor’s goal, the 48th point of her career, moved her into eighth place on Pepperdine’s all-time scoring list.

The victory marked the third-straight season the Waves have won their season opener.
