VIDEO: Racing toward a cure

November 9, 2009 by Pepperdine Graphic

With over 2000 participants running to raise money for the Talbert Family Foundation the Calabasas 6th Annual Classic Run on Sunday raised nearly $2.3 million dollars according to race director Julie Talbert.

The Talbert Family Foundation raises money and awareness for children with cancer. Founded by Julie Talbert and her husband she said that “100% of the profits go towards the cause.”

Participants came from all over the world including an appearance by Triathlete Ironman Chris McCormack. Originally from Australia McCormack trains in Malibu sometimes and said that he supports the cause because “Julie helped one of my friends onetime.”

Some participants ran because they lost a loved one to cancer. Others are currently struggling with someone affected and many simply came out to help raise awareness and money.
