This week, forecast models are calling for average to decent swells overall, with a swell in the near future that could bring some solid waves for the weekend.
Today’s predicted swell should be knee-to-waist-high on south beaches as the last of a south-southwest swell dies out. Winds are nearly non-existent as fair conditions reign supreme on Malibu beaches.
Tomorrow will see a new swell that should bring head-high waves with occasional three-foot to ten-foot overhead and fair to good conditions.
Saturday looks similar to Friday, if not slightly smaller, as the last of the energy from the new system makes its way in.
Sunday will most likely be shoulder high with decreasing energy taking waves down to one-to-eight foot overhead.
Monday, another system is predicted to affect south and southwest beaches, but will probably bring in only waist-high surf with two-to-seven foot swells.
Tuesday will keep slowing down, looking more and more like today’s average surf.
Wednesday looks a lot like Tuesday, as three-to-six foot swells will dominate the day’s action.
So if you’re heading out to catch a break, go out early Saturday before the word gets around and the beaches become too crowded, otherwise you may be in for a long day.
