Foward Jimmy Miggins led four Waves in double figures with 18 points against the USF Dons. Against St. Mary’s, the Waves were led by Boomer Brazzle and Gary Colbert with 21 and 10 points apiece. Cedric Suitt added five blocks in the win.

KEY PLAYS

Senior center Nadja Morgan was 7 of 7 from the free throw line and scored 27 points in the Waves win at USF. In Moraga against St. Mary’s, the Waves were hurt by only eight available players on the bench. Shandrika Lee led Pepperdine with 20 points over 35 minutes. Junior guard Damaris Hinojosa added 16 points and was never subbed the entire game. The Waves were also hurt by three players fouling out.

KEY PLAYS

Freshman outside hitter Sean Rooney led the Waves with 28 kills and one ace in the five-game loss at UCLA last Thursday. Junior middle blocker Brad Keenan added 17 kills and senior setter Beau Daniels chipped in 71 assists. The Waves battled back from an 0-2 deficit before dropping the fifth game 17-15. Against USC, the Waves were led again by Rooney as he dispatched 11 kills against the Trojans. Senior opposite hitter Lance Walker added 10 kills and six blocks to lead the Waves defensively at the net. Daniels sparked the Waves by serving seven straight points in game two to tie the game at 24. The Waves later won 34-32. Outside hitter Fred Winters also finished with 10 kills on the night. Daniels led both teams with 35 assists in the quick win for the Waves.

KEY PLAYS

The Waves found their stroke against the Green Wave of Tulane and lit them up for a combined 47 runs over the three-game homestand. In the first contest against Tulane, the Waves rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the eighth to steal the victory. In a slugfest the next day, the five-hour game produced a combined 51 runs and eight homeruns. Catcher Rock Mills hit two homeruns, had five RBI’s and scored four runs to lead the Waves. Senior Kevin Beavers earned the victory striking out three over five innings.The Green Wave found their bats on Sunday as they knocked five homeruns to rally from a 6-0 deficit.A four-run ninth inning sealed the win for Tulane. Sophomore Chris Kelly smashed his first career grand slam to help him to a career-high five RBIs on the afternoon.
