Puzzle Piece Fashion-Emmy Edition

September 27, 2012 by Lauren Herr & Chyra H.

We were SOOOO very excited with how the Emmy’s turned out this year!! Now, we aren’t talking audience or the actual awards (although we think they were both awesome)…we are talking red carpet wardrobe, people! We are here to discuss what we loved about Emmy red carpet fashion this year and we have pieced YOUR own fashion items together to create the same look!

LAUREN:

Let me just say, I have been waiting for this style to come into fashion all my life and now it’s finally here: mermaid inspiration!!! What other look can combine turquoise, different textures, sexy cutouts, curve-hugging silhouettes, glitter and sequins…and still look elegant and classy? It’s pure girly genius! And I am in love.

THE EMMY WAY

-Sophia Vergara is all mermaid and glitter in Zuhair Murad.

-Heidi Klum shows her sea legs in a sea foam green Alexandre Vauthier gown. She also paired bright, glowing makeup with shell-like earrings and mermaid worthy waves.

-Julianne Hough looks mermaid from head to scale with soft blonde waves and her shiny and textured Georges Hobeika gown.

-Nicole Kidman sparkles in an Antonio Berardi dress that reminds me of the inside of an abalone shell.

-Christina Hendricks was a modern age Ariel with her soft waves and fiery lips.

-January Jones wore a shiny bun and dark blue eyes.

-Leslie Mann sported sun-kissed, beachy hair and turquoise eyes and earrings.

CHYRA:

Puzzle Piece Fashion: Flower Power

Summer is over but the essence of the season still remains! Roaming around campus there is one apparent trend going around: Floral. Everything dainty, quaint, and elegant, floral prints are a common sight around Seaver college. In the above image four Pepperdine students show off how they incorporate their style into their everyday look. In the upper left corner First Year student Jane Humphrey shows off an off-white top embellished with Rose flowers and long stems, exemplifying an “earthly” trend. Beneath Jane, Junior transfer Danielle models a dark blue skirt covered with small cream and white flowers. The dark tones mixed with the light chiffon fabric gives the fashion piece an airy and dainty feel. The bottom right hand corner features Tayla, a Junior on campus who loves shopping at Anthropology (where she purchased these floral printed pants).  Based in a light cream color, these bottoms are covered with large multi-colored flowers that have a soft appearance as if painted on the fabric. Lastly, sophomore Kierra shows her floral bloom with these small accent earrings. Designed with silver petals and a rhinestone center, this accessory pair is a perfect toned-down sporting of the flower-power trend. It is obvious that all of these ladies have a green thumb for fashion!
