POWER SCULPT: Reshape through Resistance

Step into the Harilela International Tennis Stadium Fitness Studio on Thursday afternoons and witness 50 Pepperdine students and faculty engaged in a high intensity workout class that burns calories and keeps heart rates up. Led by fitness instructor Mike Bash, Power Sculpt is a fun and effective workout.

Power Sculpt kicks fitness into a high gear by combining resistance training with short bursts of cardio. Resistance training works to strengthen and define muscles, while the short circuit cardio increases calorie burn. The two combine together to reshape your body.

The class combines hand weights, kettle bells, steps and core work for an exciting and fast paced workout.

Bash says the beauty of Power Sculpt is its adaptability to all fitness levels.

“Power Sculpt works well for athletes as well as anyone just trying to get or stay in shape,“ Bash says. “The beauty of this is anyone can do it because you work at your pace and the exercises can be modified to meet your individual needs.

Power Sculpt is offered on Thursdays from 4:30-5:20. It’s priced at five dollars for one class or sixty dollars for the whole semester.

Don’t worry if this class doesn’t fit into your busy schedule. By purchasing a semester package students and faculty can attend a wide range of classes, including Pilates, yoga or even boxing, all included in the semester fee.

Pepperdine group fitness classes are a great way to get a good workout filled with high energy and a social atmosphere. You can view the complete group fitness schedule as well as class descriptions at http://community.pepperdine.edu/campusrecreation/fitness/groupexercises.htm.

Grab a friend and a water bottle and head down to the Fitness Studio located by the Ralph Strauss Tennis Stadium to kick your fitness into high gear with a workout you’re sure to love!
