Power outage in central Malibu

November 21, 2012 by Genevieve Chong

Roughly 2,000 people in Central Malibu lost power on Wednesday morning around 11. The outage affected Southern California Edison customers in the Malibu Canyon/Civic Center area.

Malibu Nixle Alerts sent out a text at 11:37 a.m. stating, “Central Malibu currently experiencing a power cut. Power is expected to be out until 12:30pm according to preliminary reports from SCE.” Power came back on at various locations in central Malibu at about 11:55a.m. and was restored at Pepperdine around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

It is not yet known if that outage is related to the outage on Malibu Canyon Road that occurred after a car struck a transmission pole north of Malibu Crest Road on Tuesday around 4 p.m. The crash caused 151 customers to lose power, according to Edison. Their power was fully restored Wednesday at 10 a.m.
