Physics club wins national pumpkin carving contest

Pepperdine’s physics club recently won a national pumpkin carving contest, held by the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME). This year, those involved with the competition were challenged to carve a pumpkin based on a theme that emphasized “Types of Engineering.”

SAME will pay for two Pepperdine students (transportation and hotel accommodations) to attend the SAME Student Leaders Workshop held Jan. 25-26, 2013 in Glendale, Arizona where they will receive the $50 Visa giftcard that was awarded to the winning school.

Those affiliated with the Pepperdine physics club and the competition have noted that Dr. Gerard Fasel, the coordinator of the Pepperdine  physics club, has worked hard to make the physics club a cohesive and interactive group in the natural science division.
