ANNUAL SENIOR AWARDS WILL BE ISSUED AT HONORS CONVOCATION
The Student Activites Office asks all students to cast votes for the four annual senior awards, which will be issued at the April 9 Honors Convocation and the April 25 Graduation Banquet.
Nomination forms are available on the Internet at http://seaver.pepperdine.edu/studentlife/awards/, under the link “Senior Awards.” Students who wish to cast a vote for the following awards should print the form and return it to Student Activities by March 31.
The George Pepperdine Award for Student Achievement honors “a student who diligently pursues excellence in all endeavors,” according to the Student Activites Web site. Candidates for this award should be above average in the areas of academic achievement, extracurricular activities, citizenship, service to the school and potential for future achievement.
The Batsell Baxter Christian Service Award will be issued to a student who is dedicated to Christian commitment and service for the Pepperdine community. This recipient will have demonstrated his academic pursuits, as well as high involvement in the Pepperdine community.
The Howard A. White Spirit Award honors an enthusiastic student with high dedication and love for the university, shown through his or her involvement in many realms of student life, including athletic, social, service and spiritual activities. According to the Student Activities Web site, “the student should, like Dr. White, be a consummate ‘cheerleader.’ ”
A student, a faculty member and a staff member will each receive the Helen Pepperdine Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service, directed toward those who have a commitment to community service beyond their normal call of duty without any expectation for recognition or credit. In addition, the recipient should support the belief that community service is integral to his spiritual, intellectual and social development.
