Men's basketball falls to BYU in nationally televised event

January 22, 2012 by Narine Adamova

MALIBU, Calif.—The Pepperdine men’s basketball team faced opponents from BYU  in an intense game in Firestone Fieldhouse on Saturday, Jan. 21. Despite multiple attempts to outscore the Cougars, the Waves finished the game defeated 77-64.

Throughout the first half, the Waves were offensively keeping up with fast attacks from the opponents, but the situation changed a little in the second half as Pepperdine was forced to focus more on its defensive strategy. The Waves’ scoring dropped, despite their terrific start.

The Cougars were leading with an advantage of seven points in the second half. Junior guard Joshua Lowery and senior center Corbin Moore were able to bring the score up by adding 14 and 10 points respectively. Freshman guard Jordan Baker continued to impress with seven assists and three blocked shots.

The Waves will continue their season as they travel to San Diego on Thursday and host Santa Clara on Saturday.
