Pepperdine’s men’s basketball team kicked off its two-game exhibition season with a 71-57 victory over the Bible Institute of Los Angeles. The teams were tied at 23 after the first half, but the Waves turned on the jets after the half and blew away Biola.

Junior guard Greg Barlow led all scorers with 14 points on seven-of-14 shooting, while senior Tashaan Forehan-Kelly nearly netted a triple-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Every eligible Pepperdine player got playing time as the Waves shot 49 percent from the field while holding Biola to 36 percent.

The next Waves exhibition game is Saturday at 5 p.m. in Firestone Fieldhouse, when Pepperdine will face off against Cal Baptist. The team’s first regular season game is Friday, Nov. 18, against University of Connecticut.
