Cruise wins $10 million in lawsuit
Tom Cruise has won a $10 million lawsuit against a gay porn actor who told a French magazine that his affair with the famous actor was the reason for Cruise’s divorce.
This marks the second gay lawsuit that Cruise has won. In 2001 Cruise sued Michael Davis, a publisher from Los Angeles, for $100 milliion. Davis claimed he possessed a videotape of him and Cruise participating in homosexual activity. The suit was later dropped after Davis retracted his claim.
Winona Ryder lands first job after theft
Winona Ryder gets her first job since her conviction of grand theft and felony charges in December 2002 from stealing from Saks Fifth Avenue in Beverly Hills. She was sentenced to three years probation and community service.
Ryder is set to co-star with Ray Romano in a black comedy directed by Michael Clancy called “Eulogy.” Also starring will be Debra Winger, Hank Azaria, Monica Potter and Rip Torn. The show begins filming on Feb. 21.
It will be the only work she has done in more than a year.
Timberlake, Aguilera set to tour together
Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera announced to MTV at the American Music Awards that they will tour together over the summer. Aguilera spilled the news after Timberlake refused to comment to reporters. She also said the duo is considering recording a duet together.
Fabolous arrested on two charges
Fabolous was arrested twice last week in New York City for separate charges. Wednesday he was arrested for charges of driving with a suspended license. He was pulled over for making an illegal turn and police discovered the suspended license. Thursday he was arrested for being a passenger in a van in which police confiscated two guns.
This Friday the rapper will appear in court, where the judge will decide whether the charges of weapon possession are either misdemeanor or felony charges.
Prosecutors say that if he is convicted, he could face from one to 15 years in prison, depending on the judge’s ruling Friday.
The Hours, Chicago win Golden Globes
Female dominated films “Chicago” and “The Hours” received top awards Sunday at the Golden Globes.
“Chicago” won best musical-comedy, while “The Hours” took best drama.
Nicole Kidman won best dramatic actress for her role in “The Hours” as Virginia Woolf. The award was Kidman’s second Golden Globe — last year she won for “Moulin Rouge.” Renee Zellweger won best musical-comedy actress for her portrayal of cabaret singer Roxy Hart in “Chicago.” This was also her second Golden Globe — she won last year for “Nurse Betty.”
Both of the leading ladies’ co-stars, Meryl Streep of “The Hours” and Catherine Zeta-Jones of “Chicago,” won supporting actress awards in their respective categories.
Richard Gere of “Chicago” won the award for best musical-comedy actor for his role as a lawyer.
