The Spirit Cup competition has arrived. Let the games begin!
And what better way to start than with dessert? Each Homecoming team, consisting of all the fraternities and sororities as well as the Student Alumni Organization and the Hawaii club, baked cakes that served 10 people.
Delta Delta Delta and Gamma Phi Beta sororities along with Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity took first prize with their cakes that replicated the entire Malibu campus.
They followed up that victory with another in the scavenger hunt Tuesday. Each team had to try to complete as many questions as possible without splitting up, using cars or dialing cell phones.
The next big event, which is a new addition this year, is the Spirit Wall competition today and tomorrow. Each group will decorate a 10-by-10 wall composed of a wood base and chicken wire stuffed with tissue paper. Organizations can win up to $500, but half of the prize must be used for a charity donation or for a group volunteer project.
The wall will be judged on readability, artistic quality and promotion of homecoming spirit. Groups are not allowed to spend more than $400 on the project. The Spirit Cup winners will be announced Saturday.
