Guido's, Point Pizza to close down

October 15, 2012 by Genevieve Chong

Malibu has welcomed a few new stores to the neighborhood lately, but it’s also about to say goodbye to some — Guido’s and Point Pizza are closing its doors to Malibu residents permanently.

According to The Malibu Times, the owner of Guido’s Italian Restaurant Antonio Castanos and the owner of the Malibu Village Matt Khoury were unable to come to a new lease agreement. Exact date of closure has yet to be determined, but Castanos thinks it will probably “be sooner than later.” Castanos also tried sending in a check in a last-minute bid to stay open, but Khoury says he has already found another tenant for the space who will be opening another restaurant in Guido’s place.

Point Pizza is closing its doors in the Point Dume Village at the end of this year, after 26 years in operation, according to Malibu Patch. After much negotiation, Point Dume Village owner Zan Marquis opted not to extend a lease with Point Pizza owner Hye Song Ooh and instead chose to sign a new lease with D’Amores Naturally, who will offer all organic, all natural ingredients. D’Amores Naturally is a sister chain of the existing D’Amores Famous Pizza located next to PC Greens in Malibu.

But on the up side, Chipotle has confirmed its arrival in the Country Mart at 3834 Cross Creek Road and should open within the next few weeks. Check it out soon!
