Seaver Drive and President’s Drive on Pepperdine’s Malibu campus were inaccessible late Monday morning after a reported gas leak, according to the Department of Public Safety. The Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Southern California Gas Company were on scene working with DPS to repair the gas line that was damaged at the roundabout near the Center for Communication and Business.

Motorists and pedestrians were diverted from the scene causing a traffic headache as students return for the fall semester. The gas leak was repaired and the road was reopened around 1 p.m. As a precautionary measure, gas has been shut off to the CCB, Payson Library, President’s Drive and the Thorton Administrative Center, wrote Ali Taghavi, Pepperdine’s director of communications.
