The school year was initiated with the freshman class filing into the Fireston Fieldhouse, to perform their own version of Pepperdine’s 70 years of history.

The energy and noise levels were elevated as the freshmen crowded the fieldhouse Saturday for Frosh Follies.

The NSO event has been a tradition at Pepperdine for fifteen years.

Many dorms pair up with other dorms to perform in the hour long show of singing and dancing.

Neighboring dorms usually are paired together to perform a six minute skit explaining the life of George Pepperdine.

“Frosh Follies is the school spirit moment of choice,” said Resident Advisor Chris Farris, who has worked with Frosh Follies for two years.

Each skit has a unique theme used to tell the story. This years themes consisted of Disney, sports, video games and more. The event was judged by a panel of Pepperdine administrators.

“It [Frosh Follies] was fabulous,” said associate dean of students Tabatha Jones. Jones was also one of Saturday night’s judges.

The crowd was pleased by many of the things they saw.

“This was the best night of my week,” said senior Rik Andrews.

However, after all the excitement, only one group could take home the winning title. The champions of the evening were Hayes, White and Fifield. Their skit was told through a series of miscellaneous video games.

“My heart exploded with emotion when we won,” said Kristen Hoffman, a freshmen resident of Hayes.

Frosh Follies was followed by a celebration known as Aftermath. Students were able to carry their excitement over from Frosh Follies to a party hosted by L.A. renowned hip-hop artist, Gio. Free food and fun attracted many students to the Rockwell Dining Center, which was buzzing activity well into the night.
