Disneyland grows with the Disney Generation as it introduces ElecTRONica a booze-filled rave hitting the theme parks this fall.
ElecTRONica is one of the many promotions by Disneyland in order to charge up park guests and movie audiences for “TRON”‘s much-anticipated sequel “TRON: Legacy which is 25 years in the making.
Each night since its opening Oct. 8, Disneyland California Adventure morphs the streets of their Hollywood back lot into the computer-generated world of TRON: Legacy.” The movie is a sequel off the 1982 cult classic “TRON” in which programmer Kevin Flynn enters his computer and becomes a digitized program eventually taking over the digital universe. Now follow into the world of “TRON” 25 years after the original.
After passing under the Recognizer vehicles party-goers are transported onto the digitized grid. Guests experience firsthand what it is like to party with the programs in the “TRON” universe as light cycles race and disc battles occur overhead. Guests dance to the electronic beats of Daft Punk and top 40 songs as a live DJ spins the tracks.
Guests can also try their luck at Flynn’s Arcade where they can play a barrage of classic arcade games— even get their hands on the unreleased video game “TRON: Evolution.” Every weekend ElecTRONica provides an additional opportunity for guests to view the first public 3D sneak previews of “TRON: Legacy.”
Guests 21 years and older can quench their thirst and reenergize at the End of the Line club.
“We go though a lot of kegs every night. We don’t only have this bar but another one at the entrance said Sarah, one of the End of the Line bartenders.
College kids who grew up in the Disney generation can rejoice as Disneyland now caters to their dream of drinking and dancing while suspended in the fantasy of the digitized world.
With the creation of the Little Mermaid” in 1989 Disney began a reinvention of the company by brining imagination to a whole new generation. Throughout the 1990s Disneyland served as a way that children could fulfill their desire for fantasy and adventure in movies such as “Beauty and the Beast” (1991) “Aladdin” (1992) and “The Lion King” (1994). Now 21 years later Disneyland still fulfills that desire of fantasy adventure and partying though ElecTRONica.
“I’m stoked that I’m growing up alongside of Disneyland now that I’m 21 senior Danae Newton said.
Due to the success and good reception of ElecTRONica, TRON” is appearing everywhere. Disney World upgraded their monorail with the addition of a light cycle on the side creating the TRONorail.
Disney’s California Adventure added a special “TRON” encore scene to the ending of their brand new World of Color water show. Disney also gave the green light to an animated series on Disney Channel XD “TRON: Uprising staring Elijah Wood, Mandy Moore, Paul Reubens and Bruce Boxleitner (from the original TRON”). According to Blue Sky Disney Walt Disney Imagineers may also develop a “TRON” ride at Disneyland.
“TRON: Legacy” doesn’t open in theaters until Dec. 17 but it’s not too late for guests to fill their electronic cravings Friday Saturday or Sunday nights at ElecTRONica.
