January 17, 2011 by Pepperdine Graphic

Saturday afternoon at Corral Beach was abruptly interrupted after a scuba diver’s body washed ashore around noon on Jan. 15. A Los Angeles County fire squad responded immediately pronouncing the man dead at 12:39 p.m.

Identified as 58-year-old Thomas Swanson of Simi Valley the body shows no signs of trauma according to Lt. Fred Corral of the LA County Coroner’s Office. He said that Swanson did however suffer from high cholesterol. Swanson was last seen walking into the surf around 9 a.m. alone.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. More details will be disclosed as they become available.
