Suspected car thief escapes deputies on PCH

Jaci Barragon was arrested Tuesday afternoon after barricading himself in a home in Maywood.

Update January 28th at 10:10 am

The search was called off at 9:30 am. Baragan has not been found yet.

According to Sgt. Anthony Arnold of the Lost Hills/ Malibu Sheriff’s Station, Barragon was described as Hispanic, about 5′ 8″ and 145lbs, with brown eyes and black hair.

According to KTLA, the suspect is identified as Jaci A. Baragan, a 27-year-old parolee with a long police arrest record. He is allegedly suspected for kidnapping and raping his ex-girlfriend. The woman reported that she had a restraining order against Baragan.

Also according to the report, police found drug paraphernalia and live ammunition inside the car, but there was no weapon found inside the vehicle.

Police cars are currently on PCH and Corral Canyon Road searching for the suspect.

MALIBU, Calif. — Deputies are searching for a male suspected car thief after he escaped early Monday as a sheriff’s deputy was trying to handcuff the suspect. According the Malibu Patch, the deputies is searching for the suspect between PCH and Corral Canyon Road. The suspect escaped at around 2 a.m.

According to Deputy Irys Alvarez, the suspect attempted to kidnap a woman who is now in the hospital for treatment of injuries. The deputy involved in the incident also was sent to the hospital due to a hand injury he suffered while attempting to handcuff the suspect.
