Broken gas line closes PCH

According to reports released by the City of Malibu, PCH will be closed for approximately 2-3 hours between Sweetwater Mesa and Carbon Canyon. The fire department is currently evacuating residences and businesses on the south side of PCH between Carbon Canyon and the Malibu Pier. According to the Los Angeles County Fire Department, a public works crew drove over the line and caused the break. As of now, no injuries were reported.

Expect heavy delays. More information to come as it becomes available.

A broken gas line in Eastern Malibu closed both lanes of PCH according to Malibu Patch. The leak was reported at 9:40am in the 22000 block of PCH according to the Lost Hills/ Malibu Sheriff’s Station. “They shut the road down for public safety,” an on-duty sergeant said.
