Beauty in the ‘Bu: Reel Stories Fashion

January 30, 2013 by Lauren Herr & Ariana Patterson

Black. The color of power, elegance and mystery. In movies and television shows, film students have a penchant for wearing black. Thus, making the fashion at last week’s Reel Stories event very fitting (ha!) to say the least. An overwhelming theme for Pepperdine students was black attire and not just your typical LBD. We saw ABW (all black wardrobes). The best part? Everyone seemed to have their own, unique take on their color of choice.

The boho look of long, flowy hair was popular with many of the girls. What other hairstyle looks best with a wind machine? 😉

Ishita Khosla dons the most classic and girlie black ensemble with a cinched, flowy dress topped with rose fabric details and paired with silver accessories. Accessorizing definitely adds a youthful, girly touch. She rocks the classic LBD look that never goes out of style.

Josh Liu and Whitney Ashton take their outfits the rocker route, complete with spikes and leather. Whitney spices up a neutral gray top and black skirt with an edgy leather jacket. And to play it up even more, is the peekaboo pattern in her black tights. Très chic, if I say so myself!

Josh went with an all black ensemble but looked exceptionally sharp (wink) with spikes on the shoulder pads and with bedazzled shoes. His subtle hints of glamrock kept him looking fresh all night. Adding small textures like the spikes and glitter shown here, makes any outfit pop!

Jordan Santos dresses up her simple black base with a piece of statement jewelry, a Louis Vuitton handbag and a sleek hairstyle to create an air of movie star glam. Jordan’s outfit is boho-meets-rocker. Her fur vest with her loose waves and patterned tights are edged out with her sleek, black boots and rockstar-status accessories. To top it off, Jordan added a pop of color to her lips to keep that WOW factor all night.

Reel Stories fashion this year was classic with a twist of modern style. Boho-chic meets rocker and create a twist on the classic color: black. Fashion was a big of a hit as the films this year. Rock with love everyone!

Xoxo,

A & L.
