Student bands battle above Stauffer Chapel

March 24, 2011 by Pepperdine Graphic

As the clock strikes 8 this Friday evening six Pepperdine student bands will emerge to duke it out on the Amphitheater stage. The coveted Battle of the Bands will rock your TOMS off. Elephant Room Zenda King Arthur and the Knights Pat Flesher and the No-Shows Revelation and Johnny Come Lately (as seen on America’s Got Talent) are the warriors set to rage the arena above Stauffer Chapel.

Only one winner can reign supreme to be decided between celebrity judges CHAPPO (find their single “Come Home” on the latest iPod Touch commercial) and student votes. The Student Programming Board has pulled out all the stops for the skirmish treating onlookers to free Chick-fil-A custom ice cream sandwiches and specialty drinks whipped up by an on-site coffee truck. Studio recording time awaits the lucky champions.

Senior Seth Allison and recent graduates Jeff Loveness and Kyle Helf will keep the peace as emcees leaving attendees safe to chow down on an audible buffet. Watch the contest unfold with the chance to pocket Lady GaGa concert tickets an iPod Shuffle gift cards or an electric guitar to entice your inner musician. Perhaps the night will compel you to surface as next year’s superstar.

Checks out the epic battle commence at the area about Stauffer Chapel Friday at 8 p.m.
