Campus Ministry hosted its spring retreat last weekend in the mountains above Lake Hughes, to escape the distractions of civilization and focus on the spiritual contrasts of darkness and light.
This semester’s retreat explored the theme “vs.” to represent the gray areas and challenges of a daily Christian walk. The worship and most speaker sessions were student led, with special speaking appearances by speech professors Greg Daum and Dr. John Jones.
The lessons focused on finding the dark corners of life so that light may begin to permeate that darkness and enhance spiritual growth.
Saturday evening included a time of reflection in the darkness while listening to selected songs from the musical “Phantom of the Opera,” a story about the beauty of darkness and overcoming its power by confrontation.
