Pepperdine senior Brie Gabrielle was named Miss California 1st runner up Sunday night at Indian Wells. Nearly 300 contestants competed in the competition, with Natalie Pack of Los Angeles/Newport Beach claiming the crown as Miss California USA 2012. Gabrielle was named Miss Malibu this fall.
Pepperdine junior Kayla Brown also competed in the competition and placed in the top 10 after being named Miss Corona this fall.
The Miss USA pageant will be held this summer and the final night of competition will be broadcast live on the NBC television network. The exact date and location are still being discussed by pageant officials.
