Students invited to weigh in on campus upgrade project

November 29, 2010 by Pepperdine Graphic

Following the unveiling of large-scale potential renovations to Pepperdine’s campus a hearing on Thursday will allow comment from the public on the project’s environmental impact report draft which is currently available for public review.

The proposed upgrades to campus are part of the Campus Life Project a multi-phase development project designed to upgrade athletic residential and recreational aspects of campus life.

The plan includes 800 new parking spaces a 5000-seat sports complex a grassy quad and residence hall upgrades. The hearing will take place Thursday Dec. 2 at 5 p.m. in Caruso Auditorium at Pepperdine University School of Law.

Rhiannon Bailard Pepperdine’s director for sustainability and vice president of governmental and regulatory affairs encouraged students to attend the meeting and show their support for the project.

She said that although most current students will probably not directly benefit from the proposed upgrades “students who support the project become part of a legacy that will endure” long after they have graduated and that students should still be able to show up to part of the hearing before heading down the the Christmas Tree Lighting in Joslyn Plaza.
