New Student Orientation coordinators and leaders gathered on Malibu Pier Monday afternoon around 2:10 p.m. to perform a flash mob.
The seemingly spontaneous group performance included 130 orientation leaders and seven orientation coordinators. The group danced to “Like It’s Quidditch,” a Harry Potter-themed parody of “Like a G6.”
The flash mob coincided with the “NSO Magical” theme.
Only a few spectators and some beach-goers viewed the flash mob at the pier. The group decided to perform a second time despite the lack of an audience.
Junior Hayden Christensen, one of the seven orientation coordinators, hoped that the flash mob would be “even bigger and better and crazier” than last year’s lip dub.
The orientation coordinators had been collaborating on the effort since they arrived on Sunday, Aug. 14. The entire group rehearsed for a few hours each day over the past few days.
The flash mob video will be shown to the new students before the Wednesday night dance party in the Caf.
