Timothy Chester leaving Pepperdine to accept post at Georgia

July 19, 2011 by Pepperdine Graphic

In what appears to be a mass shift in administration, another Pepperdine employee has announced an intent to leave the University. Timothy Chester, vice provost for academic administration and chief information officer at Pepperdine, has accepted a position as chief information officer for the University of Georgia, effective September 15, according to an announcement made July 18 by Provost Darryl Tippens.

Jonathan See, a 10-year veteran of Pepperdine and current deputy chief information officer, and senior director, client services, for IT, will replace Chester as the interim CIO.

According to Tippens, Chester is leaving the university in “good hands.”

“We are sad to see Tim leave and we will miss him personally, as well as his leadership, energy, creativity and strong organizational skills,” Tippens said. “In the nearly five years that Tim has been with us, he has shown his expertise in an array of domains, including IT, assessment, accreditation, government regulations and budgeting … Georgia is fortunate to be gaining his talents.”
