Liven Spring Break with these Beach Games

Living in Malibu, we have the beach right in our own backyard. Instead of fighting off mounds of snow on your spring break, take advantage of those beautiful Malibu beaches. After an hour of lying out in the sun, it’s time to have some fun. But what is there to do at the beach besides cooling off in the water? Here are a few games that will really amp up your beach day.

Can You Dig it?

One activity that will serve up a good time is beach volleyball. Beaches such as Zuma already have volleyball courts set up, so all that is needed is a volleyball. Beach volleyball can be an exciting way for a healthy competition. Bump, set and serve your way to a good time with this classic activity.

Tugging in a Good Time

Next, a thrilling game of tug of war. The only required gear to pull together this activity is a rope or even a few towels tied together. Play this game in semi-deep water so that the losing team will go down with a splash.

Bend it Like Beckham

Another game that scored its way onto the list is beach soccer. All you need to play is a soccer ball and a few friends. Play in the harder sand for an easier game, but either way you will be sore afterward. A healthy competition and good workout, this game is definitely a keeper.

A Jamming Good Time

Up next, KanJam is a game that has recently been gaining immense popularity. The game consists of one disc and two containers to serve as goals. The beauty of this game is that all you need is a Frisbee and good aim. The equipment can be purchased with the KanJam set, but for the thriftier players, two garbage cans or large containers will suffice. To play, split into two teams, each with one thrower and one deflector. The object of the game is to toss the Frisbee into the other team’s container. The thrower must have good aim, but the deflector will assist in slamming the Frisbee into the goal. The team that reaches 21 points first wins. This pastime requires skill and aim, so it can be enjoyed even by those who are not as athletic.

Wet Zone

And if you need to cool off, the last game on our list is a water gun fight. With fewer rules and the possibility for some much intensity, it’s the perfect way to add excitement to the day and cool off at the same time. Invite as many of your friends as possible and have an epic water gun fight. Grab your Super Soaker and pump up those boring beach days.

Although many students go to the beach to study or read a book, it can be fun from time to time to add a little more amusement to those lazy beach days. Unwind from the stress of midterms and enjoy the beginnings of spring break with these exciting beach games. Have a little fun in the sun!
