Lady Luck in not on the side of Sin City…In a town once thought to be recession proof Vegas is feeling a failing economy. The statistics show the economy in Vegas is just like the rest of the country…in a recession.
But this Valentine’s weekend Vegas did not show signs of people scrimping and saving. Restaurants were packed popular clubs had lines of hundreds and big shows were sold out days in advance.
Maybe its the excitement of winning big that entices people to spend their dough. Or maybe its the glitz and glamour that distracts people from their own budget woes and lets them shop their worries away.
While the three day weekend gave Vegas a full-house its a hand that the city has not been dealt often enough.
in 2008 gaming revenue for downtown Vegas and the strip was down 8.5% unemployment at an all time high for the city and construction in the area has dropped 92%.
