The mountain lion that crossed the 1-0-1 is causing alot of debate about the safety of these cats and their habitats.
The crossing was most likely due to the mountain lion needing more space to claim territory and biologist says it’s good news.
Wildlife ecologist Dr. Riley says that while he is pleased the mountain lion population is growing it also makes the cats fight each other to claim territory.
He says he is pushing for a wildlife crosswalk so that animals can safely cross the busy freeway.
If you encounter a mountain lion experts say not to run but to raise your arms in the air and appear as large as possible.
Biologists say it’s important to remember we share this space and we are just as much at home as the mountain lions.
