Associated Women for Pepperdine will be hosting a garage sale at the Brock House on Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. where students will be able to find a “huge variety of good quality items” at “low and affordable” prices for students, according to University Office Assistant Marici Cook.
The AWP Executive Board organized the sale, which was President Andrew K. Benton’s idea to raise money for students and contribute to charity. All of the profits will go toward student scholarships, and the leftover items will be “donated to a local charity that benefits people with developmental disabilities,” Cook wrote in an email.
The items for sale came from the Pepperdine community and people who have donated their estate items to the university. The sale will include items useful to students such as furniture, small coffee makers, ice buckets, clothing, household items, books, sports equipment, jewelry, electronics and more, Cook wrote.
AWP will also be celebrating founder Helen Young’s 96th birthday at 11 a.m. during the sale. Young is also the widow of Pepperdine’s third president M. Norvel Young.
