A residential fire gutted actress and TV host Ricki Lake’s Malibu home at 18954 Pacific Coast Highway this morning. There were no injuries reported and the structure was “a total loss an official report said.
The L.A. County Fire Department received a call at 7:28a.m., alerting them to the blaze. According to Battalion Chief Terry Dejournett, the Malibu/Lost Hills Sherriff’s Department was on scene prior to their arrival.
The Sheriff’s Department reported that Lake, her two sons, ages 9 and 13, as well as her dog safely exited the home.
We made an initial attack to the reported structure then applied structure protection to the residences on either side Dejournett said. The occupant was using flammable liquids on a ceramic heater and the stone was still hot. It was an accidental ignition— caught the house on fire. The occupants were able to exit the structure. No injuries.”
The fire department and utilities companies secured water electricity and gas. “We had our cause investigators come in to do a follow up on that and we found it was an accidental ignition Dejournett said.
Three lanes of traffic on Pacific Coast Highway were closed for approximately three hours, alternating traffic flow occurring in the remaining open lane. Damage estimates for the property have not yet been assessed.
