Ways to spend Valentine's in Malibu

February 11, 2013 by Genevieve Chong

“Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone

I’ll be waiting all there’s left to do is run

You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess

It’s a love story baby just say yes…”

For all of you hopeless romantics who have Taylor Swift songs playing over and over in your head, we know you can’t wait for it – Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. So for all you Romeos out there who want to take your Juliet out on a Valentine’s date, or all you single people out there who just need something to keep you occupied on this special day, here’s a few ideas as to what to do in Malibu:

I say “Go big or go home.” Valentine’s Day happens once a year, so why not take out your loved one to the best of Malibu? Nobu is offering an 8-course meal at a whopping $150 — but their menu includes Seared Japanese Snapper and Caviar, Nantucket Scallop with Uni Gratin and Spicy Yuzu Lobster Soup. Tempting much?

If you are one for a romantic meal on the water and admiring the beautiful sunset, take advantage of Moonshadows’ 3-course special for only $49 if you get there before 4pm. After 4pm, the same 3-course meal goes for $75.

And if you’re in the mood for a little Cuban, Cafe Habana is offering several special dishes, like Braised Oxtail Gordito, finished with Casamigos Tequila Reposado, in addition to their regular dinner menu.

And if you want to top your dinner off with a great movie afterward, why not try that romance flick Safe Haven? Josh Duhamel and Julianne play the lead characters and the movie is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, the author of The Notebook. And if you’ve seen the trailers, it’s almost guaranteed to be a tear-jerker.

And be sure to make dinner reservations quickly! Both locals and visitors flock to Malibu to spend a romantic evening, so be expecting unusually long waits if you don’t make a reservation soon. Keep us updated with where you’ll be going and don’t forget to send pictures over to graphic@pepperdine.edu!
