Santa Anas bring about strong winds and small fire to Malibu

October 27, 2012 by Genevieve Chong

The Santa Ana winds have brought about gusts of up to 65 mph and humidity as low as 5 percent in Malibu, which have brought up critical fire weather conditions to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.

Malibu Patch reported a small fire that broke out Friday afternoon off Mulholland Highway west of Decker Canyon as strong Santa Ana winds blew through the area. The fire was held to about one acre by 200 firefighters and two super scoopers, who quickly responded to the open blaze.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and the red flag warning continues into Saturday afternoon.
