The City of Malibu has collaborated with the Southern California Association of Governments to launch an interactive safety study along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH). The PCH Safety Study will undertake users’ study awareness and improvement suggestions to identify safety concerns based on roadway conditions, adjacent land-uses and other factors unique to Malibu.
An interactive Google Map Maker of PCH tracks and records users’ destinations, safety concerns along the corridor and transportation modes. Safety concerns range from lighting to bike-auto conflicts to parking concerns. The three study area boundaries include Topanga Canyon Rd. to Cross Creek Rd., Cross Creek Rd. to Busch Dr. and Busch Dr. to Western City Limits. The study will end Oct. 12 with recommendations for prioritized improvements along the three study areas.
Four public meetings held at Malibu City Hall will discuss each area, with a final review session focused on community input and response. Starting tonight and ending Oct. 4, meetings will be held every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.
