So close and yet so far for the Waves Women’s Volleyball team Friday night against USC. The Waves were swept by the Trojans in three games and now find themselves a game under .500 at three-and-four. Junior Sophia Milo led the Waves with 13 kills but it wasn’t enough as Pepperdines inability to attack and serve hurt them. “USC is a good team, and we need to prove ourselves,” said Pepperdine Head Coach Nina Mathies.
“Also it was a hard place to play with the noise. The atmosphere there is frenetic. It’s not really a warm and fuzzy Atmosphere” Mathies said. The Waves who are lead by three seniors still rely on their freshman. One of those freshmen Julie Rubenstein had an inconsistent match and the waves never got into a flow. “We got caught up in the hectic atmosphere and never settled down,” said Mathies. The Waves will look for a rebound with wins in five matches in the next week with four of those on the road.
