Golf is a truly an international sport and the Pepperdine Waves got their passports out and traveled to Japan for the 11-team TOPY Cup U.S.-Japan Intercollegiate Golf Championships this week. The tournament held at the Tanagura Country Club featured 3 other division-one schools including Georgia State, South Carolina, and Michigan State.
The Waves finished 6th in the tournament, behind Georgia State and Michigan State, but ahead of South Carolina. Individually the Waves were led by junior J.J. Wood who shot a 2-over par 218 and tied for sixth. Senior Alex Coe also finished in the top ten with a tie for 8th, shooting a 3-over par 219 in the 54-hole tournament. The Waves will not be in action again until October 3 when they will host The Club Glove Intercollegiate at Saticoy Country Club in nearby Somis.
