6. 3.5 magnitude earthquake hits Beverly Hills

A 3.5 earthquake was reported at 12:03 a.m. Friday. It was felt over a wide area of Southern California, including downtown L.A. and the San Fernando Valley. See more details here or from USGS.

5. Car accident stops traffic on PCH

2. Threat Assessment Team on alert

President Andrew K. Benton’s email last Tuesday informed the community of the decision to ban his son Chrisopher, 27, from campus for “a long time” after his son was arrested at the administration building for making threats to his family. The status of this decision now hinges on the university’s Threat Assessment Team. Click here to know more about it.

This was the most read article on the G.O.D. this week.

Christopher Benton pleaded no contest on Friday to making threats against his father, Andrew K. Benton, and possessing a firearm by a narcotic addict and could face two years in prison when he returns to court on Sept. 21, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
