October 31, 2002 by Pepperdine Graphic

Text Box: AnnaLembke

Senior, forward
6’3”

FRIGHTENING FACTS: After missing all of last season with a knee injury, the talented Lembke is a key to the Waves’ success. An adept scorer from inside the paint and around the 18-foot range, she’s been a productive player whenever she’s been on the floor. A talented athlete who runs for the floor well and has an exceptional vertical leap, Lembke will try to stay healthy and help the Waves repeat as conference champions.

Text Box: TamaraMcDonald

Senior, guard
5’7”

FRIGHTENING FACTS: An explosive point guard who will take you to the hole or beat you with the jump shot, McDonald is the team’s most vocal leader and biggest supporter. Blessed with tremendous athletic ability, she spent the off-season working on her three-point shooting, floor shooting and mid-range jump shot. Her outstanding speed and quickness makes her a tough one-on-one defensive player.

Text Box: DamarisHinojosa

Senior, guard
5’10”

FRIGHTENING FACTS: The backbone of the Waves’ offense, Hinojosa is the go-to player when the team needs points up on the board. The team’s leading scorer, passer and three-point shooter, she was selected All-WCC last season for the third consecutive year. A smart player with great knowledge of the game, Hinojosa can find the open player and isn’t scared to pull the trigger. She was tabbed MVP of the WCC tournament last year.

Text Box: ShandrikaLee

Junior, guard
5’6”

FRIGHTENING FACTS: One of the most recognizable faces on the team, Lee may be the quickest guard in the WCC. A performer on either side of the court, she was third on the team in scoring last season (10.2 per game) and first on the team in steals with 1.9 per game. This season Lee, an improving shooter, looks to contribute even more to the Waves’ offense and anchor their talented backcourt.

Text Box: ShannonMayberry

Senior, forward/center
6’4”

FRIGHTENING FACTS: If she is able to come back from a stress fracture in her right leg, Mayberry will again provide the Waves with a strong presence inside. A proven rebounder and shot blocker, last year she finished second in the WCC with 48 rejections. She’s a highly regarded athlete with unlimited potential, averaging 5.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 blocks a contest last season

KeaniChristianson

She appeared in 31 games last year, and started 25. She averaged 6.8 points and 4.5 rebounds a contest last year and finished in double-figures 10 times. She shot 44.3 percent from the field, and a team best 38.1 percent from the three-point arc.

She has quality ball-handling skills and is capable of playing the point guard position; a definite scoring threat. A three-time All-Freeway League selection at Troy High in Fullerton, Calif., she finished as the school’s all-time career leader in three-pointers made.

Text Box: KellyGreathouse

FRIGHTENING FACTS: A transfer from North Carolina State, Greathouse will sit out this year in accordance with NCAA rules. An excellent high post player with great hands, she can put the ball on the floor and score or pull up for a jumper from three-point range. She has good passing skills. Greathouse attended nearby Buena High in Ventura, where she was considered one of the top 10 recruits in the country her senior year.

Text Box: ShanellLaw

Sophomore, guard
5’9”

FRIGHTENING FACTS: After a year of limited playing time, Law, an athletic guard who creates match-up problems for opposing defenses, is

expected to be another key member of the Waves extremely talented backcourt. She is a keen three-point shooter who will provide the Pepperdine offense with another outside scoring threat. She is expected to see most her playing time at the wing positions.

Text Box: JenniferLacy

Sophomore, forward
6’3”

FRIGHTENING FACTS: Though she is out until January because of off season knee surgery, Lacy is a tremendous athlete who runs the floor well and has unusually good quickness for a frontline player. A tremendous jumper, the Waves hope she can help fill the defensive void left by Mayberry and become a formidable shot-blocker. Rumor has it that this girl can dunk, but Waves’ fans are waiting to see it happen in a game.

2001-02: Appeared in 20 games and averaged 3.8 points and 2.2 rebounds a contest…Shot 42.9 percent from the field and 55.2 percent from the free throw line…Contributed 5.8 points and 3.3 rebounds a contest in WCC playA returning starter who can score inside and out as well as handle the ball, Brazzle finished 3rd on the team in total points and 4th in 3-point percentage. FRIGHTENING FACTS: Spencer, a fundamentally sound player who can play both inside and outside, saw significant playing time as a rookie until she suffered a season-ending knee injury halfway through the year. She is expected to make a full recovery. Spencer possesses a great feel and knowledge of the game, and should be an asset to the Waves potent scoring attack.

Text Box: KelseyBall

After sitting out a year as a college transfer from Oregon State, Funn is expected to perform on the offensive and defensive side of the court.
