In the battle for the No. 1 ranking in the country, the Waves emerged victorious over the UCLA Bruins in a three-game sweep. Junior middle blocker Brad Keenan smashed 12 kills, and added four aces and eight blocks on the night. Sophomore outside hitter Fred Winters knocked down eight kills and three aces as the Waves recorded eight aces against UCLA. The most stunning stat of the game was the blocking margin, which the Waves led 17-2.5. Against Northridge, senior opposite hitter Lance Walker led the Waves with 19 kills and a .500 hitting average.

After rolling on their longest win-streak of the season at four games, the Waves were handled by the Long Beach State Dirtbags on Wednesday after giving up seven runs in the top of the ninth inning. One of the only bright spots for the Waves was second baseman Simon Ferrer’s second homerun in four games. Five Waves pitchers surrendered a total of 21 hits in the loss.The Waves swept Santa Clara last weekend for their first sweep of the year.
