ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

February 21, 2002 by Pepperdine Graphic

Jason Allred

SPORT
Golf

YEAR
Senior

HEIGHT/WEIGHT
6-2, 175 lbs.

WHAT HE DID …

Allred has been the driving force behind the success of the golf team this season as it has tore up teams in several tournaments.

In Hawaii this last week, Jason shot a combined three rounds of three-under par to finish third in the Taylor Made Waikoloa Intercollegiate. He leads the team with a low round average of 72.05 and has carded the lowest round of the year thus far for the Waves with a blistering 67.

In October, Allred won the Club Glove Intercollegiate tournament sponsored by Pepperdine at the Saticoy Country Club in Somis. Jason has finished in the top 20 in six of the seven tournaments that the Waves have competed in this year.

He won the 1997 U.S. Junior Golf Championship and was ranked No. 7 in the Golfweek/Titleist junior rankings before entering Pepperdine.

OFF THE GREENS …

This quirky Oregonian is never seen without a smile on his face and a joke on the tip of his tongue. When he’s not making smoothies or choreographing a fall to perform in front of a group of stupefied onlookers, Jason likes to play pingpong and his guitar. He is also heavily involved in the GOAL on campus.
