Athlete of the Week

Michelle Barker

SPORT: Women’s Diving

YEAR: Junior

HEIGHT:  5-5

WHAT SHE DID:

In high school, Barker placed sixth in the 1998 CIF Southern Section Championships. She also placed tenth in the CIF championships as a sophomore. She did not complete her senior year due to an injury.

Barker also participated in the Crown Valley Divers, based in Laguna Niguel, for many years.

She attended Dana Hills High in Dana Point, Calif., where she was a four-year letterwinner in both diving and soccer.

Barker has not lost a diving event        all season.

Barker finishes second in the three-meter diving event in the 2000 PCSC Championships, recording a score of 408.55.

She also finished fourth in the one-meter event in 2000 with a score of 343.20.

She advanced to the NCAA Diving Regionals in both events as a freshman in the 2000 season.

THE TEAM SAYS …

“Michelle is a hard worker who brings enthusiasm to the pool deck. She builds a lot of team unity among us,” teammate Erin Schindler said.

Off the pool deck, the Kappa Alpha Theta member likes to go to the beach and hit the stores to go shopping.
